NEW OPENING TIMELINE

We know you are anxiously awaiting the opening of the all-new Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing and we very much are, too. Unfortunately, due to new, unanticipated manufacturing and subcontractor challenges, we expect the Certificate of Occupancy required for us to move into the building will also be delayed. This will cause us to push our opening date back a few weeks, as well.

The Winter Park Health Foundation team is working closely with the Center for Health & Wellbeing architects and general contractor to scrutinize the construction schedule and avoid any additional delays. As we have done throughout this process, we will keep you updated on progress and share a specific timeline when it is available. As promised, Crosby members will have a chance to appreciate the new Wellness Center prior to the grand opening celebration for the Center for Health & Wellbeing.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we continue to create the country’s first whole-person, health-focused facility. We welcome your questions and feedback — please reply to this email if you’d like to share your thoughts. Here’s to your wellbeing!

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS: GROUP EXERCISE SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

We are proud to be offering more than 50 group fitness classes when we open! Our classes are designed to meet the needs of both experienced fitness enthusiasts and rookies alike and are each taught by a certified instructor trained to provide a motivating class that is certain to turn you into a regular. We plan to monitor your feedback, listen to your needs and build to a full schedule of 90 classes. In next month’s Crosby News edition, we will be proud to introduce our new Group Fitness Manager who will lead of all these efforts. Rest assured: members can feel comfortable jumping right into any of our classes — so grab your tennis shoes, gather your friends and we’ll meet you in class! CROSBY MEDICAL INTEGRATION EFFORTS TAKE SHAPE

One of the most important ways that the Crosby Wellness Center is different from a standard commercial gym is its affiliation with the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) and plans to acquire Medical Fitness Association Certification after one year of operation. To that end, Crosby will operate at a higher standard in many ways, from degreed staff to outcome tracking, and a focus on community health and quality management. Crosby will also operate with medical oversight – an active Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) – a by-invitation-only group of some of the most forward-thinking physicians, healthcare and fitness professionals in Central Florida. Together in collaboration with Crosby staff, the MAC will provide advisement and oversight for Crosby programs and services. Last Friday, during the first of many regular meetings, members of the MAC were treated to a sneak- peek of CWC and the Center for Health & Wellbeing during a hard-hat tour of the quickly-progressing site. And please join us in welcoming Beth Morris, the newly-hired Crosby Medical Integration Manager who will be at the helm of our medical fitness efforts including the MAC and the Next Steps programs. With a BS in Recreation Administration from the University of Florida, Beth has 20 years’ experience in the wellness industry and certifications that include Health Coaching and Personal Training from the National Association of Sports Medicine and American Council on Exercise. If you’re a Crosby Legacy member, you might remember Beth as a former Crosby wellness professional. Beth says about her new role, “I love that we are working as a team with doctors and specialists to empower people to live their healthiest life.”
