The Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) is a private foundation dedicated to improving the health of youth, older adults and the community-at-large in Winter Park, Maitland and Eatonville, Florida. Founded in 1994, WPHF strives to build healthier communities through a creative mix of grants, initiatives, programs and facilities. As a long-trusted leader addressing health and health care issues, the Foundation is recognized as a catalyst for community health research and collaboration.
In 2018, the Foundation is focused on completion and opening of the Center for Health & Wellbeing (CHWB) The Center, developed by WPHF in partnership with AdventHealth, is a state-of-the-art, 80,000 sq. ft. healthy living center combining services and programs for Wholeness, Fitness and Medicine in one convenient location.
Owned by WPHF, the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center (CWC) is the cornerstone to the Center for Health & Wellbeing. In 1989, Winter Park Memorial Hospital opened and operated the original Crosby Wellness Center as the area’s first and only medically-integrated fitness facility. For a hospital to be focused on wellness and prevention in the late 1980s was incredibly innovative and unusual, an idea that has continued to be a Crosby focus to this day.
Named for its generous benefactors Peggy and Phil Crosby, the Center was a community mainstay and a social hub for local residents and visitors alike. After 27 years, WPHF closed the first iteration of CWC in 2016 to make way for the new Center for Health & Wellbeing and Crosby Wellness Center.
