National Reading Month: Jim Keeps the Pages Turning While Keeping Up with His Cardio

March is National Reading Month. You may have noticed Jim always reading on one of a variety of different cardio machines. We wanted to check in with this bookworm and see how he keeps the pages turning while he keeps his heart beating.

Crosby Wellness Center: Why do you enjoy reading while exercising?
Jim: It is an escape from real life. Also, it passes the time in an unboring way. I enjoy learning new things and reading is the best way to do that.

CWC: What sort of stuff do you read while exercising?
Jim: I mostly read military thrillers or spy novels. Although, next I plan to read a biography about Winston Churchill.

CWC: Have you always been an avid reader?
Jim: Yes. It’s an important foundation. I used to read to my children every night. It is the best investment you can make in them.

CWC: Have you always been an avid exerciser?
Jim: Pretty much. I played almost every sport imaginable and have worn out every body part too.

CWC: What is your favorite book of all time?
Jim: Not a favorite book, but a favorite author of mine is Tom Clancy.
