By: Crosby Wellness Center Staff
We were happy to interview one of our amazing members Lee. Lee’s focus is supporting her overall wellness -mind, body, and spirit.
CWC: Why do you exercise?
LT: I exercise for two reasons: out of respect for god’s wisdom of making our wonderful bodies and the mission of this facility. You feel the wellness – mind, body, and spirit all coming together here at Crosby Wellness Center. In addition to what this center offers, I find the relationships with the other members and the staff the most fulfilling.
From Will at the front desk, Audrey, Veronica, Tabitha and Oderd. I work out here, but the relationships here are most rewarding.
CWC: When did you start exercising?
LT: It has always been in my blood. At 13, I started working out with my mom in a lady’s group. Then in college as a resident assistant, I would get the students together and do Jane Fonda exercise videos with them. I have always played tennis and that’s how I met my husband.
CWC: What is your current goal?
LT: To maintain my current lifestyle and live well. I like to take things one day at a time and practice mindfulness.
CWC: How many times do you work out per week?
LT: I am here 5 times a week.
CWC: What is your favorite form of exercise?
LT: I like all forms of exercise! The beauty of Crosby Wellness Center it is you have it all here, and you can do whatever you need that day. For example, I love the rhythm of swimming and the community experience of the group exercises classes. However, some days I need the mindfulness of strength or meditation. I also really enjoy FitBall.
CWC: Do you have any exercise recommendations?
LT: Everybody needs to try as much as they can. Give the group exercise classes a chance. Don’t think, “oh no I can’t try Zumba®.” Someone is going to smile and welcome you. You must crawl before you walk. You are going to love at least one class. FEAR NOT.
CWC: Do you have a healthy diet?
LT: I love cookies! My diet is not perfect, but I try to eat as healthy as I can.
CWC: If you could go back in time what’s one thing you would do differently?
LT: I would tell myself to just know that there is a balance, and you need to remain steady.
CWC: If you wrote a health and fitness book what would it be called?
LT: God, Respect for Yourself and Repeat.
Thanks for speaking with us Lee! We wish you continued success in your wellness journey.
