January marks the beginning of a new year and a new you. You can accomplish all your goals for this year, including your fitness goals. Set yourself up for success by avoiding these habits regarding your health and fitness routine.
Nutrition is a major component of your physical health. No matter what is included in your exercise routine, an unhealthy diet can derail your fitness goals. If you’re unsure how to start, a registered dietitian can get you started on the right path by understanding your goals and providing guidance for the best foods to support your overall health.
Create small specific goals to lead to your bigger goals. It will be unrealistic and unmotivating to try to lose a lot of week in a short period of time. Give yourself grace to take your time and move toward progress and not perfection.
After a busy day during the work week it may be hard to find the motivation to work out, even if you planned to in advance. Working out with a friend holds you accountable to stay committed to your fitness plan, it is fun and makes the time go by quicker. A personal trainer can provide an expert approach that saves you time and gives you confidence that each minute of your workout is safe and effective. Group exercise classes lead by certified fitness specialist at the Center can provide variety to your workout. These three methods provide motivation, encouragement and accountability.
Once you have your goals and fitness plan for the year, it’s time to incorporate this plan into your daily life. Take a look at your schedule and determine which days and times work best for your workouts. Prepare all the items you need for your workout and follow through with your plan.
When your body is deprived of quality sleep, it responds the same as if it were experiencing physical stress. Lack of sleep causes your body to release chemicals telling your body to quickly refuel, leading to sugar cravings. Sleep is essential for more than just fighting food cravings. Your body needs sleep to maintain a strong immune system and support cellular maintenance to look refreshed. Better quality sleep leads to better hair, nails, skin, and even longer attention-span. Your body is designed to get 7-10 hours of sleep a night. When it comes to maximizing health and wellness, a minimum of seven hours of quality sleep per night is essential.
This is a new year to create new habits for a new year. Take these simple tips and apply today.
